Create this easy, family-approved One-Pot Creamy Kielbasa Pasta. This recipe uses simple ingredients to deliver a rich, satisfying meal with minimal cleanup, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound kielbasa sausage, sliced into half-moons
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 ounces dry pasta (penne or rotini work well)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook until lightly browned, about 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the sausage with a slotted spoon and set it aside.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the same skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth, diced tomatoes (with their juice), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Add the dry pasta to the boiling liquid. Stir well to prevent sticking. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally during cooking.
  5. Return the cooked kielbasa to the skillet. Stir in the heavy cream and shredded cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until heated through. Do not boil after adding the cream.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if you choose.

Notes

  • For a budget friendly pasta dinner, use a less expensive smoked sausage substitute if kielbasa is unavailable.
  • If you prefer a cheesier sausage pasta, increase the shredded cheese by another 1/4 cup.
  • This recipe cooks quickly, making it an excellent 30 minute dinner recipe.
