Ingredients
Scale
1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Blanch the trimmed green beans in boiling salted water for 3 to 4 minutes until tender-crisp. Immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process, then drain well.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl.
Add the blanched and drained green beans to the skillet. Pour the honey garlic mixture over the beans.
Toss the beans constantly for 1 to 2 minutes until they are fully coated and the sauce has thickened slightly into a glaze.
Season with salt and pepper to your preference. Serve immediately as a flavorful green bean side dish.
Notes
For extra crisp green beans, roast them at 400°F for 15 minutes before tossing with the glaze.
You can substitute brown sugar for honey for a slightly different flavor profile.
This recipe works well with frozen green beans if you thaw and pat them very dry first.
