Ingredients
Scale
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup long grain white rice, uncooked
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
Add the uncooked rice to the saucepan and stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes to toast the grains lightly.
Pour in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly with a lid, and simmer for 15 to 18 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed. Do not lift the lid during simmering.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
Notes
For an even richer flavor, use unsalted butter and add a pinch of onion powder with the salt and pepper.
This recipe works well for meal prep; store cooled rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
If you prefer Jasmine rice, adjust the cooking time slightly as it often cooks faster than long grain white rice.
