Make this creamy, cheesy, and slightly spicy baked Jalapeño Popper Dip. It uses simple ingredients and is perfect as a crowd-pleasing party appetizer for game day or any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 4 ounces cooked, crumbled bacon
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles, drained
  • 1 (4 ounce) jar diced jalapeños, drained (use more or less depending on heat preference)
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish or a similar-sized oven-safe skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix until smooth.
  3. Stir in the 1 cup cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, crumbled bacon, green chiles, diced jalapeños, green onions, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese with the panko breadcrumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle this topping evenly over the dip mixture.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and the topping is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let the dip cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For a make-ahead appetizer, assemble the dip completely, cover it, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add about 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time if baking directly from the refrigerator.
  • If you prefer a less spicy dip, remove the seeds and membranes from the fresh or jarred jalapeños before dicing.
  • This dip is excellent served with sturdy crackers, sturdy tortilla chips, or sliced baguette rounds.
